Gregg’s band students have a saying: “We are friends. Friends love each other.” There’s a giant flag with a waffle and paint-dipped handprints all over it. His classroom culture and community is saturated with humanity and music. I wrote a special “beginner” piece to commemorate his school’s new steel band. I’m excited to see his dedication and passion for music flow through this new project!
