Mango Jay is one of the most supportive pannists I know. Although we’ve never met face to face, we’ve been checking in with each other for years. We talk about what’s going on in the music scene, and he’s got this great game where we drop first names and locations of steel pannists to see how far our network extends. “You know Gregg from Rhode Island?” “Oh yeah, I know Gregg from Rhode Island! How about Brad from Kansas?”
