My colleague Jim is a popular musical encyclopedia, probably from his decades of work as a pianist and entertainer. We have a standing summer duo gig at a hotel, and Jim has probably played more of my original steel pan tunes than anyone else in the world. He inspires me to work harder and grow as a musician. Over the years we’ve become family, although I’m pretty sure he still hasn’t decided whether I’m like a son or like a brother. Either way, when we put our brains and sounds together, we morph into the tropical island duo: Steel N’ Keys.
