Roommates can be hit or miss. The day I embarked on my final cruise contract, my new roommate made an effort to avoid me at all costs. We finally met a few moments before our first rehearsal, and hit it off far better than either of us could have imagined. We shared a passion for music, great food, culture, and most importantly movies/television. As we bonded over “How I Met Your Mother,” he reminded me more and more of Ted Mosby, portrayed by actor Josh Radnor. I still have him in my phone as Josh Radnor. The nickname was shortened to J. R. and eventually, Junior. One night he was snoring so loud, I put headphones on and started writing a tune. We had the privilege of premiering the tune “Junior” together with the cruise house band the next day.
