With thousands of “friends” on Facebook, I get invited to dozens of events every week. 10 years after high school graduation, Alexa had a housewarming party on Cinco de Mayo. We hadn’t seen each other since high school, when we used to carpool to Philharmonic Youth Orchestra rehearsals. The windows were down year round, with Deftones and BoySetsFire blaring over the sound system. A decade later, I assumed the invitation was just a random button click, but with a somewhat recent social independence, I decided to take her up on this offer. As I showed up at the door, Alexa shrieked in excitement as though she was under the impression I had been marooned on some exotic island for a decade. This moment launched a fantastic summer of kayak excursions, restaurant hangs, music events, visits to the Newport mansions... even attending the final Copacetics concert before my induction into the band. We have some great memories, and I’m looking forward to making more!
