Portuguese to English: “Welcome to the Coast.” My Portuguese landlord spends half the year on a tropical island, and the rest of the year in Rhode Island. Either way, he’s within walking distance to the beach, which is fitting since his last name, Costa, translates to “Coast.” Over the years, it’s been a treat to share a common ground in island life and Caribbean music!
