about

This is the fourth selection from "Quick Vibes," a series designed to put your body, mind, and spirit into a mood through short soundscapes. In the journey of art, there are often organic moments the creators don't plan. Sitting at the console to record the bass line flowing from my mind, I started hearing cumulative layers that essentially crafted the entire song on a single instrument. Somehow, I improvised an exclusively-bass ska instrumental with fugal tendencies. Literally, the steel pan, hi-hat, and bongos were an after-thought, but what is Panoramic View without having some element of Steel Pan? In addition to the official "release," I decided this release deserves the art in its purest form: A bonus version of the bass part entirely performed on bass without any of those pesky percussion instruments. On the eve of the originally intended release date, I had a conversation with an old high school buddy o' mine, Daniel Moriarty (of D. Majestic and the Spectral Band) and posed that this track would sound cool overlayed with his sound. Thus, the "Overflow Version" was born.

BONUS bonus: Check out the D. Majestic remix of our collaboration on his pages! D. Majestic's remix features everything cranked up to 11. Moriarty recorded drums played at extremely high volumes using microphones that could absolutely not handle the audio levels. From there, compressors, distressors, and saturators were completely abused to produce a distorted, smashed, stretched, raw, blown-out track. Available on Bandcamp now, and streaming starting on 02-24-2024.
